Awareness of climate change in society is high, yet public debate and idea exchange on the Climate Law remain limited. CO2 Manager stands by your side with reliable information and sustainable approaches.
Awareness and concern about the climate crisis are high in Turkish society. However, there is a clear need for more public debate, idea generation, and both popular and scientific publications on the Climate Law.
The Turkey Climate Change Perception Survey 2024 conducted by Climate Haber and KONDA shows that Turkey’s awareness of climate change is higher than in many developed countries. When asked, “Are you concerned about climate change?” 72 % of respondents this year answered “very concerned” or “concerned.” Over the past seven years, this figure has never fallen below 50 %, while in 2022 it reached a historical peak of 83 %. Small fluctuations can be explained by the timing of the survey and recent climate events.
It is particularly striking that seven out of ten Turks believe that climate change is caused by human activities. Since 2020, this share has fluctuated between 71 % and 78 %. In the 2024 survey, 26 % considered climate change to be a natural process, while in some countries worldwide, the proportion of people who deny climate change can reach up to 30 %. Climate change skeptics, often visible on social media, are therefore limited to a very small group.
Another remarkable point is that fundamental attitudes toward climate change vary little by lifestyle, political views, education level, gender, or age. In a society otherwise often deeply divided, this level of consensus is notable.
Yet, despite high awareness, the limited public discussion on climate change concerning societal actors, policymakers, and opinion leaders is striking. While hours-long programs discuss details of 16th-century Ottoman history, climate change—a topic constantly generating new events and challenges—remains largely neglected.
Current questions about the Climate Law included in the survey confirm this situation: Only 12 % of respondents stated they were informed about the law’s content, while 18 % had heard of it but did not know the details.
In summary: Awareness of climate change in Turkish society is high, yet public debate and idea exchange on the topic remain limited. CO2 Manager stands by your side in this process, providing reliable information and sustainable approaches.
